Breaking Dawn Forever is a monumental lightbox featuring a depiction of a 500-year-old solitary oak tree. Through the gradual shift in color temperature and intensity of the backlight, the image undergoes a subtle evolution, transitioning from the cool luminescence of moonlight to the warm glow of breaking dawn. Initially a static photograph, it transforms into an extremely slow cinematic panorama, evoking alternately a post-apocalyptic landscape and the promise of a radiant future. In its entirety, the piece invites reflection on nature within the context of the Anthropocene.
Breaking Dawn Forever is een monumentale lightbox met een afbeelding van een 500 jaar oude solitaire eikenboom. Door de geleidelijke verschuiving in kleurtemperatuur en intensiteit van de achtergrondverlichting, ondergaat de afbeelding subtiele veranderingen, waarbij het verschuift van koel maanlicht naar de warme gloed van een ochtendschemering. Aanvankelijk een statische foto, transformeert het tot een uiterst langzaam cinematografisch panorama, waarbij afwisselend een post-apocalyptisch landschap en de belofte van een stralende toekomst worden opgeroepen. In zijn geheel nodigt het kunstwerk uit tot reflectie op de natuur binnen de context van het Antropoceen.
